The Story

Weaving & Embroidery, Mexico

Caroline’s great grandmother, Lilly de Jongh was a collector of, and specialist in, Mesoamerican textiles. Over the course of her life she traveled extensively collecting textiles and studying artisanal crafts.

Wicklewood works directly with weaving cooperatives in the region of Oaxaca and Chiapas, Mexico. Combining traditional techniques of backstrap loom weaving, foot loom weaving and embroidery Wicklewood breathes new life into traditional craft and seeks to empower local populations and preserve age-old techniques.
