Decorating details: alternative wall art

Selecting art works to display in our homes is one of our dream pastimes. And our latest passion? Introducing alternative wall art to the layout - think embroidery, texture, colour, mirrors. Discover a few of our favourites below and embrace your inner maximalist…

Intricate tapestries

Hand-stitched by our artisan partners near Lake Atitlan in Guatemala, these intricate pieces are crafted in vibrant colours with exquisite detail and depict the wildlife, scenery and daily life in Guatemala. Select your favourite to hang as a standalone piece, or build your own collection.

Worry doll wreaths

Stitched from leftover cloth and yarn, in traditional Guatemalan folklore, worry dolls take away children’s (or adults’) worries while they sleep. Here, these tiny handmade figures are crafted into a wreath and mounted on linen. Entirely unique, not two wreaths are the same.

Hand stitched yokes

Our beautiful one-of-a-kind yokes are sourced in India. Crafted by the Banjara tribe in Rajasthan, each vintage piece has been hand-embroidered and originally formed the front next panel of a dress or tunic. Vivid colour and miniature mirrors are typical details.

Enamel mirrors

Hand-crafted in Peru, and a mainstay of traditional Peruvian homes, these ornate enamel mirrors are painted using an ancient Cajamarca technique, passed down through generations. Each one features delicately painted glass and gilt details. We love them hung as a mini collection.
