House Guest: Elizabeth Kelly

Founder of the sleepwear brand Nights by Wilder, Elizabeth Kelly,  brings the same sense of ease and joy that defines her designs into her home. A mother of three and former PR turned designer, she has transformed her 1970s house into a bright, layered space filled with flea-market finds, vintage textiles, and playful details. Brimming with character and warmth, it’s a home that feels lived-in, loved, and endlessly inspiring, much like the world she’s built through Nights by Wilder.

Tell us a little about yourself and how Nights by Wilder came to life

I’m a mother of three and a former PR turned designer. Nights by Wilder was born out of one of those classic parenting moments, hunting for pyjamas for my daughter that weren’t splashed with cartoon characters! I wanted something simple yet special: stylish, timeless, and fun. When I couldn’t find it, I decided to create it.

Inspired by vintage children’s shapes and my love of natural fabrics, I discovered the magic of Khadi cotton; hand-spun, handwoven, and full of soul. It quickly became the heart of the brand. Today, every piece is made in India by a brilliant, female-led team, in joyful checks, stripes, and block prints — crafted to be worn, loved, and passed down.

How would you describe your home in three words?

Joyful, folky, and layered.

What drew you to this house, and how have you made it your own?

Our home is a 1970s detached house that we completely remodelled. I had to lean into a new aesthetic, one that embraced the space's clean lines and bright light, yet still felt soft, layered, and personal. It's filled with antiques, flea-market finds, and treasures collected on our travels, and is constantly evolving, a work in progress. The mix of playful textiles and well-loved objects gives it a warmth and personality that feels very us.

Is there a room or corner that makes you happiest?

Our front “grown-up” room. It’s the darkest space in the house, but also the cosiest — low lighting, rich textures, and plenty of textiles. I love winter weekends spent hunkering down there with the kids, and a good film.

What’s your philosophy when it comes to living beautifully with children?

To embrace the mess and the magic in equal measure. Homes should evolve with family life.  I’d rather have a space filled with memories than one that looks untouched. Beauty, for me, lies in the layers: a little pattern, a little play, and a whole lot of personality.

We love how Wicklewood pieces sit within your space — what drew you to them, and how do they work alongside your aesthetic?

Wicklewood’s pieces have such an effortless charm, joyful yet considered.  I’m drawn to their sense of craftsmanship and the tactility of their fabrics. Their designs blend beautifully into our home, adding that extra spark without ever feeling overdone.

Where do you look for inspiration — in interiors, design, or daily life?

Everywhere. Travels, vintage textiles, interior designers I admire, old children’s books, and Nancy Meyers films (of course!).
